1 Who we are
Safon (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a phone theft-protection service operated by Argos (Argos), based in Thun, Switzerland. This policy explains what personal information Safon collects, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have. It applies to the Safon app and this website.

2 How Safon works (please read)
Safon is an anti-theft tool. To protect your phone if it is lost or stolen, some features are designed to stay active and to resist being switched off by anyone who is not the owner — including background location reporting and reset protection.
By activating Safon on a device, the owner agrees to these protections being always on while the device is protected. This is what lets a stolen phone still be located and recovered.
3 Information we collect
- Location. While protection is active, Safon collects the device’s location periodically (about every 30 minutes) and at key moments such as a SIM change. This runs in the background and cannot be turned off while the device is protected.
- Device information. IMEI, device model, manufacturer, and Android version, used to identify and protect the specific phone.
- SIM information. Safon detects when the SIM card is changed or removed, to flag possible theft.
- SMS messages. Safon processes incoming SMS to receive Safon command messages and activation codes. It looks only for Safon-related messages; it is not intended to read or upload your personal conversations.
- Activation & payment records. Your activation code and its status (for example, pending or approved).
- Account identifier. An anonymous identifier created automatically so the app can securely connect to our servers. It is not linked to your name.
- Reports you submit. If you report a phone as lost or stolen, we collect the details you provide, such as IMEI and a description.
4 How we use your information
We use your information to activate and run theft protection; locate a device if it is lost or stolen; lock a device or trigger protections on the owner’s instruction; detect SIM changes that may indicate theft; check whether a device has been reported stolen; operate, secure, and improve the service; and meet legal obligations.
5 Legal basis
Where data-protection law such as the Swiss FADP or the EU GDPR applies, we rely on your consent (given when you activate Safon), the performance of our agreement with you, our legitimate interest in preventing and responding to phone theft, and compliance with legal obligations.
6 How we collect it
Most information is collected automatically by the app while protection is active. Some you give us directly, such as a stolen-phone report or an activation code.
7 Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- with service providers who run our infrastructure — in particular Google Firebase (Google), which stores and processes data on our behalf;
- with law enforcement or relevant authorities when needed to recover a stolen device or comply with the law;
- with you, the device owner.
8 Cookies & analytics
This website is a simple informational site. We don’t use advertising cookies and we don’t sell your data. Standard hosting logs may record basic technical information (such as IP address) for security and reliability. The Safon app’s data practices are described in the sections above.
9 International transfers
Safon uses Google Firebase, so your information may be stored and processed on servers outside your country. We rely on the safeguards offered by these providers to protect your data.
10 Data retention
We keep your information for as long as the device is protected and as long as needed for the purposes above, to recover stolen devices, and to meet legal requirements. When it is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
11 Security
We use technical and organizational measures, including authentication and access rules on our database, to protect your information. No system is completely secure, but we work to keep your data safe.
12 Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Because Safon is an anti-theft tool, some requests may be limited while a device is actively protected, to prevent a thief from disabling protection. 13 Children
Safon is not directed at children and is intended for adult phone owners.
14 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with an updated date.
